Hello everybody and welcome to the Next Big Blog! I almost gave up on it because
I was way too involved with other projects but how can I be away from this? I
love talking about Brock and I love the site in which brings us up to date news
on our favorite UFC fighter, the cyborg terminator, Brock Lesnar! I am extremely
happy to hear that Brock is recuperating from his very serious illness in which
was being said to be career and life threatening at first. I remember hearing
about it for the first time and hearing how Brock would never fight again and
possibly fighting for his very life. I was very worried because I knew that if
Brock was done, UFC would never be the same again. After UFC 100, when Brock
Lesnar gave that extremely passionate and yet very entertaining and
controversial after-fight promo that he had done something special there. After
that promo, he became known as "UFC's Ultimate Heel". Meaning he because the guy
everybody loved to hate! Not just the fans but the fighters as well. You may
know that after that promo, many fighters which include names like Frank Mir and
Shane Carwin, among others who were rubbed the wrong way. Whether it's jealousy
or not, we'll never really know since these two fighters have been the top two
guys who really want to hurt Brock and take his title. Frank Mir over the last
few months has expressed mixed emotions towards Brock. He at one time said he
actually respected Brock for improving his skills but then went to say that it
was because of him that Brock did that. When we found out who Brock would be
fighting next, Mir did not think twice and already went and picked Shane Carwin
as the winner of the bout. Frank Mir recently defeated Cheick Congo at UFC 107
in fashion and very quickly with the guillotine choke at one minute and twelve
seconds of the first round. After the bout Mir said he's been training and
getting into the best shape of his life and even gained 20 lbs of muscle mass
and all because he desperately wants to get back in the ring with Brock to
avenge his loss at UFC 100. He hopes that Brock gets healthy and hopes he comes
back so he can hurt him. A third and final encounter between the two is
something we all want to see. So far both men has one win each and the third
fight would definitely tell who really is better and seeing how much Mir has
improved and how much Brock has improved since their first fight at UFC 81
nearly two years ago, I have to say that this fight would go either way.
Obviously I want Brock to win but I have to be fair here so logically I think it
could go either way.
Shane Carwin is the next guy to challenge for the belt and the talk now is July
for that fight. I won't get my hopes up just yet because a few months ago it was
being said Brock would be back in January and that obviously isn't happening.
The only way I will be excited about the return is when I see the poster on
Times Square, New York City as I have been seeing each and every month of UFC's
PPV with the picture of Lesnar and Carwin there! I know it's not a question
anymore of IF but WHEN Brock returns. However I just hope he doesn't rush back
not being 100% because that would be a mistake and could end up losing. My point
is, I would rather Brock take all the time in the world to come back but when he
comes back he is like his old self not feeling any pain at all, completely 100%
and better than ever!
To wrap it up, I just want to comment on the Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights. Who
would have thought that Roy "Big Country" Nelson would have ended up winning the
damn thing? When I first saw his belly and then five minutes later him I said to
myself, "this guy ain't no fighter". His first fight being against Kimbo Slice I
thought Kimbo was going to knock him out with one punch, but Kimbo looked really
bad and Nelson was able to use his size and yes even his skills to finish the
fight on the ground. After winning the semi-finals, he went on the finale to
defeat Brandon Schaub but this time via KO! After that fight I gained some new
found respect for Nelson who was the last IFL Heavyweight Champion, so naturally
he had the advantage there being a season veteran and champion. But I think a
lot of people misjudged him, myself included, due to his physique and this is a
perfect example of never judging a book by it's cover moniker. Now that Big
Country is the new Ultimate Fighter, the question is, will he be successful in
this division where there are a lot of big guys with a lot of talent? My answer
is, I think he will not only go far but he could be a contender for the
Heavyweight belt in the very near future! Since a fighter usually gets to fight
at least two times in a year, I don't see Nelson being a contender just yet.
However I believe that with three wins under his belt, he will definitely be in
line for a shot and that could be as early as 2011. I don't really know as I am
simply speculating based on the flow of how UFC works. I only hope that Brock is
still champion when Nelson's time comes because I would love to see these two
squaring off.
That is all at this time but I will try to be more constant with the blogs from
now on! I slacked off too much and I hope for the people that enjoyed my blog in
the past that you forgive me. Suzie and Mickey thank you for your continued work
with the site as it is truly the ultimate place for all Brock Lesnar news! I
love the site since day one and I still do and I know that if Brock ever came
across the site he would love it as well.
