Introduction:
Hey what's up everybody! I hope that everyone had a great and safe holiday.
Without any further delay let's get to the hot topic at hand!
The Ultimate Rematch:
I just can't stand the excitement in the air! Can you feel it? Can you smell it?
The most anticipated rematch in UFC history is upon us! Last night Frank Mir
defeated Antonio Nogueira in the second round via TKO. It was one of those
moments that I really didn't know what to do or think. I was cheering for
Nogueira the entire way but then when Mir took him down for the third time with
the punch, and started hammering on him and the referee stopped the fight, I had
mixed emotions. But when I saw the big smile on Brock Lesnar's face I was like "YEAH
BABY! MIR YOU'RE GONNA GET DESTROYED!" I mean this is going to be bigger than
big, I am sooooo excited about this fight that I wish they would announce it
already when the fight will take place. Obviously it will not happen at UFC 93,
94 or 95 as the main event matches are already booked and two of these events
will take place on Spike TV. So that only leaves UFC 96 which will happen March
7th on Pay Per View and I gotto believe that it will be the time when the
rematch takes place! Personally I wish it would have happened in February of 09
just for the irony of it you know? It would be a year in the making sort of
thing! Frank Mir has done nothing over but talk trash ever since Brock Lesnar
beat Randy Couture to become the new UFC Heavyweight champion and my friends, I
believe that Brock Lesnar has either read or heard every single word said! Brock
was smiling because he knows what Frank Mir will have to deal with in the coming
months and I will say this, Mir, don't expect to fight the same Brock Lesnar you
fought last February because if you do, it will be a quick win for Lesnar I
guarantee you!
UFC 92 Fallout:
As I just covered above, we have a new interim UFC champion and his name is
Frank Mir. After defeating Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira in the second around by
TKO, Mir moves on to face Brock Lesnar who is the official UFC champion sometime
next year to unify both titles and have the undisputed UFC Heavyweight champion.
But whoever wins this fight will have to look out for a fighter on the rise…the
Frenchman Cheick Kongo. After defeating a very capable Mostapah Al-Turk, Cheick
Kongo made it clear that he wants a shot at the Heavyweight title and he has
more than enough claim as he is on a winning streak. I would think that the
winner of the Lesnar/Mir rematch will face Cheick Kongo down the line. This can
be a very exciting fight if Lesnar is the opponent. Another belt changed hands
last night as the undefeated "Sugar" Rashad Evans defeated Forrest "Gump"
Griffin in the third round via TKO to become the new Light-Heavyweight champion
of the world! In that same weight class, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson defeated long
time nemesis Wanderlei "Ax Murderer" Silva in the very first around via KO.
Jackson has avenged his two previous loss he had against Silva back in their
Pride wars over four years ago! Quinton came in with a lot of confidence and he
knew exactly what he would be doing and by goodness he did exactly that. He even
said he's boxing is what helped him more. I can see Jackson back in the title
hunt if he can get another win! There were some more fights but most undercard
fights which I didn't interest me, except for the CB Dollaway vs Mike Massenzio
which was an exciting fight because CB looked like he was on the losing end but
the guy came back and kicked ass and won it by TKO in the very first round!
Overall I have to say that UFC 92 lived up to the hype of the Ultimate 2008! UFC
really closed 2008 with a BANG!
Other News:
I was reading an article posted on the site about Nogueira on Brock Lesnar,
Brock vs Fedor and Brock vs Lashley and these are my personal thoughts…Unfortunately
we will not see Nogueira fight Brock Lesnar anytime soon, not that I wanted all
along but it would have been a good fight to see and after watching Mir
completely dominate Nogueira, knocking him down three times I just have to
wonder how good is Nogueira these days? I was very disappointed about Nogueira's
performance, I don't know if he was taking Mir likely or what but as much as I
hate to say it, Mir dominated the fight. Hopefully big Nog will go back to the
drawing board and train harder than ever and come back and kick ass. As far as
Brock vs Fedor, it's a long shot, until Fedor's people can negotiate with the
UFC, we won't see this fight. Brock sure as hell won't fight for free so this is
one of those fights that you can't wait for, just dream about. Regarding Bobby
Lashley fighting Lesnar, again it's a long shot but not impossible. Dana White
was asked what he thought about Lesnar fighting Lashley and Dana was like "who?"
haha that made me chuckle a bit because Dana is right, who the hell is Lashley?
Yeah in the WWE he was a big deal, not that big of a deal but a well known name,
however in the world of mixed martial arts, it's a different story! This further
proves my points about Lashley being a Brock Lesnar wanna-be. Every thing that
Lesnar is doing, Lashley wants to do it too. Lashley is going to have to make a
name for himself without people pushing him along the way. He will have to learn
the true meaning of paying the dues! Besides, who gives a shit about Lashley
anyway? I don't, come to think of it, I don't know why I'm even talking about
him? (lol)
Closing:
This is all for this year! Join me again next year which will be in about a few
