From fightticker.com: In a move that is likely setting up some exuberant pre-fight commentary from Joe Rogan, FiveOuncesofPain.com released a statement by Shane Carwin refuting a GroundNPound.org article in which Lesnar claims he spent some quality bonding time with Carwin the day before UFC 96.
GroundNPound.org: What do you think of up and coming heavyweights like Cain Velasquez or Shane Carwin.
Brock Lesnar: I do not see them as threats to me. I like to keep a mindset like that. They are both great wrestlers. Shane Carwin and I actually met the day before UFC 96. He is a great guy - we actually had our punch forces tested too.
GroundNPound.org: What were the results?
Brock Lesnar: We were told to throw the hardest right cross we could on a punching bag. I was able to rack up 1350 pounds per square inch. He did a little over 1200, making my punch harder.
Sounds like a good time, but Shane Carwin says it never happened!
From FiveOuncesofPain.com: “The guy is a freaking liar,” said Carwin. “We never meet at UFC 96, I was getting ready for a battle with Gonzaga not hanging out at Dave and Busters with Brock. I do not understand why guys like Brock claim to have tested against me. He has the belt, shouldn’t he be the standard?”
Brock was interviewed during tonights Ultimate Fighter Finale. The interview took place via satellite with Lesnar in Alexandria, Minn. Rogan complimented a tiny goatee Brock Lesnar is growing. Lesnar said he's winding down his training camp and getting excited about the rematch. He said Mit got lucky the first time but he won't a second time. Rogan asked him if it's a fair assessment to say he's "learning on the job" as champion. Lesnar said he tries to stay humble and his training partners make sure of it. He says he just thanks God every day he stays healthy and learns every day. Lesnar was them presented with his golden "Mantlers" trophy on Spike TV. He couldn't attend the ceremony because his wife at the time was nine months pregnant. He cracked himself up when he said the world's most dangerous man is now changing the world's most dangerous diapers. He thanked the fans for their support and didn't come across as if he was trying to heel it up for the UFC 100 hype.
Brock won the award for "Most Dangerous Man" at the Guys Choice Awards (thanks to those who voted!). Spike TV will air the award show this sunday . Check your local listings. I don't know if they are showing any clip of Brock accepting the award or anything.
From thesun.co.uk & Fighters Only Magazine (Brock is on the cover of this months issue):
Brock Lesnar claims none of the other heavyweights in the UFC will threaten his title reign. The champion squares off against interim titleholder Frank Mir in a unification bout on July 11 that will headline UFC 100. But the former WWE star insists he is not worried by the threat any of his rivals pose to him holding on to the gold. He said: "I watch the other heavyweights and I don't feel threatened by any of them." "It doesn't mean jack s*** to me. I just want to win fights and make as much money as I can." "It's all part of the plan and it's a dream come true. I'm not getting caught up in la-la land. I'm keeping everything in perspective and keeping it real." "But even though I've got the belt, I can still become a better fighter. It poses a whole other threat now, with people gunning for you and not just me trying to climb the ladder." The 31-year-old is famed for his competitive nature and outstanding wrestling ability - but he admits he is in this business purely for money. He added: "I've had plenty of jobs to put food on the table. I grew up on a farm in South Dakota so I'm no stranger to hard work." "But you have to make money. If there wasn't a prize or a guy couldn't make a living out of this I highly doubt that anybody would fight." "Put it this way, guys play golf for recreation. You don't fight and get bloody noses and black eyes for fun. I'm a grown man and I have to make a living out of this."
